How To Open/Run a PayPal Account in Ghana

What is PayPal?

PayPal is an online payment service that allows individuals and businesses to transfer funds electronically. Here are some of the things you might use PayPal for:

Send or receive payments for online auctions at eBay and other Web sites

Purchase or sell goods and services

Make or receive donations

Exchange cash with someone

Creating a Verified PayPal Account in Ghana

When creating a PayPal account, you want to have a Billing Address. One advantage of PayPal to Ghanaians is that PayPal does not confirm your account with your billing address, not even with your cell phone number. It verifies with your email account only.

Follow the steps below to create a PayPal account in Ghana:

Go to Google and search for a virtual Togo or Nigerian address with phone number

Copy and paste the address somewhere on your computer

Visit the PayPal site and hit Signup on the top right corner of the page

Choose a personal or Business account depending on your choice.

Click Continue and choose the country for which you copied the address in step 2

Type in the email field your correct personal email address and choose a secured password

Continue and put in the address and phone number you have copied earlier in step 2 into the spaces provided

Create your account and login

Add your debit or master card details. Debit cards can be obtained from most international banks in Ghana including Barclays, UBA, etc. Master Card can be obtained from GCB and some other banks. You can also get a MasterCard from payoneer (although paypal no longer supports verification through payoneer.)

Check your email address to verify your account, and enjoy PayPal legally in Ghana.

ALTERNATIVELY

If you have a relative in the US or UK or any country on PayPals whitelist, you can ask to use their address and phone number, if they have not used it to create a PayPal account already. They will however receive notifications when you spend money from your PayPal balance.

P.S You can withdraw PayPal in Ghana through mpowerpayments.com

I suggest you use this for only payments and shopping online. Trying to withdraw funds on it will be at your own risk. Your account can be frozen at any time. If you want to buy items online, always remember to specify a shipping address, where you want the item to be shipped to. This is different from your billing address.
